The 8th grade will be studying harmful substances, commonly known as drugs.
Students will distinguish between drug use, misuse, and abuse, as well as the dangers of addiction. Students will also learn to identify the different drug categories and their characteristics, such as stimulants and depressants.
In groups, students will prepare a class presentation on an aassigned drug category, using a visual aid such as Powerpoint. These presentations will focus on:
- how the drug is taken
- appearance of the drug
- physical effects of the drug
- emotional effects of the drug and addictive potential
- legal implications
